Synopsis

The story begins with the director, who used to work as a part-time employee for Hyundai Motor Company, and Jeom-hwan Park, a young laborer who is struggling with the injustice he faced against a part-time contract with Hyundai. After losing his job, the director returns to university and plans to make a documentary about Jeom-hwan¡¯s situation. Through Jeom-hwan¡¯s struggle with everyday life, the film poses a question at the reality of youth unemployment and labor rights.

    Born in Ulsan in 1992, Lee majored in film studies at Dong-eui University and is currently a graduate student and researcher at DEU Cinema & Transmedia Institute. He is directing Utopia, his first feature-length documentary focusing on the reality of youth labor.
