DMZ Industry 2021 Project Submission

DMZ Industry, ‘One-stop’ documentary support platform based in South Korea, invites projects for our 2021 Industry programs. Projects in all stages of production (from pre-production to post-production) will be eligible for submission.
There are two main submission categories:

  • DMZ Docs Fund that supports documentary projects in development or in production stage with its cash grants
  • DMZ Docs Pitch which provides business and networking opportunities
1. Submission Deadline
a. Production Fund (DMZ Docs Fund), Production Pitch and Rough Cut Presentation (DMZ Docs Pitch): Wednesday, March 31st, 17:00 (GMT+9 / KST)
b. Development Fund (DMZ Docs Fund): Friday, April 9th, 17:00 (GMT+9 / KST)
c. Post-production Fund (DMZ Docs Fund): TBA

SUPPORTS & BENEFITS 5,000,000 KRW/per project (Approx. 4,100 USD/per project)
  • 15,000,000 - 30,000,000 KRW/per project (Approx. 12,300 - 24,600 USD/per project)
  • Official invitation to DMZ Docs Lab 2021
  • Official invitation to DMZ Industry 2021 with pitching opportunity
  • DMZ Docs Match 2021 (business meeting) service
In-kind support (D.I., Sound mixing, DCP Packaging) at the designated facility in July and August

* Due to COVID-19 pandemic, DMZ Docs Lab and DMZ Industry 2021 may happen online.

Eligibility

- Feature-length documentary projects (60 min. or longer) with aims of theatrical release or TV broadcast
- Documentary projects created by directors/producers of Korean or Asian nationality.

Development Fund
  • Documentary projects in pre-production or development stage
Production Fund
  • Documentary projects in 30~70% stage of production
  • Documentary projects that can be completed no later than August 2022
  • Documentary projects that provide the DMZ Docs with the first-look option
    - Premiere of the completed film at the DMZ Docs 2022 (premiere condition can be changed or agreed upon after discussion)
Post-production Fund
  • Korean documentary projects in the post-production stage
  • Projects submitted to the DMZ Docs 2021 call for entry
  • Projects that completed shooting and editing
  • Documentary projects that provide the DMZ Docs with the first-look option
    - Premiere of the completed film at the DMZ Docs 2022 (premiere condition can be changed or agreed upon after discussion)

ELIGIBILITY
  • 30-70% in production
  • Korean/Asian or international co-production projects with over 30% of Asian regional finance
  • Post-production or in the final stage of completion
  • Projects that have never been released or broadcast (except for at film festivals)

  • Official invitation to DMZ Industry 2021 with pitching opportunity
  • DMZ Docs Match 2021 (business meeting) service

  • Korean/Asian documentary projects in 30~70% stage of production, or international co-production projects with over 30% of Asian regional finance
Rough Cut Presentation
  • Korean/Asian documentary projects in post-production or finished stage
  • Projects that can submit 30 min-long excerpts of rough cut
  • Projects that have never been released or broadcast (except for at film festivals)

5. Selection Announcement

Individual notice to the applicants and announcement through DMZ Industry website in late May or June (exact dates TBA).

6. Obligations of the Recipient
  • Progress or accomplishment report upon request (e.g. film festival screenings, awards, domestic/international release, etc…)
  • DMZ Docs logo placement, acknowledgment as DMZ Industry official project or award winner and insertion of opening/end credit provided by DMZ Docs in the completed film (including logos and acknowledgement in official publications)
  • Settlement and Grant Spending report including audit report relating to the grant held (DMZ Docs Fund)
  • Submission of the completed film with English subtitles (either in DCP or MOV) in an external hard drive to the DMZ Docs (excluding DMZ Docs Fund - Development Fund)
