Synopsis

Birha is poetry of separation. Derived from Punjabi Sufi poetry, it reflects the waiting and lamentation caused by pangs of separation. Guided by this poetry, and friendships with migrant workers, Birha follows the trails of separation from faraway villages to unknown cities. Some long to go home, some feel free to be away from home, some others have disappeared. The film is in quest of impermanence in an everlasting present.
