Since 2013, Jeju 4 · 3 solidarity has been investigating on the actual condition of people who were sent to prisons in main land without any legal procedure or trial when Jeju 4 · 3 incident occurred. This movie focuses on showing dialogs of investigative interviewers with surviving people who had been imprisoned, and families of the deceased, by accompanying Jeju 4 · 3 solidarity’s investigative interview. The experiences and memories of the survivors or the families of the deceased are testimonies of history and individuals endurance of living through a horrendous history. How could we understand such a horrible incident that is so contrast to the beautiful nature of Island Jeju.
Kim Kyung-man lives in Seoul and has been making non-fiction movies since 2000. He is very much interested in ruling ideology that is still operating well in Korean society. He also utilized newsreel films and propaganda films made by government in his works. < An Escalator In World order>(2011), < Beep>(2014) and < People Passing By>(2014) are his major works.
