The Itaewon tragedy was met with public indifference and mockery, but what is the untold story? This film reconstructs the tragedy through the eyes of the LGBTQ+ community with pole dance moves. Queers who live in Itaewon or make regular visits share their stories on the impact the Itaewon tragedy has had on their lives. And this narrative even reaches not only LGBTQ+ members who died in the Itaewon disaster, but also survivors who are forced to remain silent. Once their stories are finally revealed, how will this expand the social mourning narrative?
The way the public view ¡°the people who died looking for entertainment in Itaewon during Halloween weekend¡± is similar to the way LGBTQ+ members, the unknown and misunderstood, are viewed. It is therefore difficult for these members to tell their stories of any tragedies even as victims, survivors, or witnesses.
This film gives Queers the narrative of social mourning by painting the Itaweon tragedy through their eyes. How has the Itaewon tragedy affected those living in the alley known as ¡°Gay Street¡±, just across from where tragedy occurred, as well as the entire community itself? If ¡®social mourning¡¯ relates to loss, it is hoped that this film brings in a variety of subjects whose stories have been omitted from this discussion.
