Synopsis

When violinist Mika discovers the talent of Jungbin, a blind girl with absolute pitch, she decides to train her to become a violinist despite what others say. At Mika¡¯s recommendation, Jungbin majors in music at university. However, as time passes, Jungbin becomes more dependent on Mika, while her violin skills do not improve as expected. Mika tells Jungbin that her playing is devoid of emotion and demands that she play to express her own feelings and emotions. However, as Jungbin has not been able to see from birth, she finds it difficult to express her emotions and becomes increasingly unconfident and psychologically withdrawn from Mika¡¯s intense lessons. Mika therefore encourages Jungbin to set the goal of playing Bach¡¯s Chaconne at her graduation recital despite being a piece that even people without disabilities are reluctant to perform. At the same time, Mika realizes that there needs to be a new turning point in their lessons. By chance, Mika overhears a story about a violin maker in China and suggests that Jungbin travel to China to meet the maker in order to have a different experience that will allow her to express her emotions. However, when Mika realizes that Jungbin¡¯s additional hearing problems prevent her from flying and that ships to China are currently blocked, she decides to go to China first to find a way to bring Jungbin there.

Review

This film is not about the coming of age of a person with a disability. Instead, it delivers the story of growth of two musicians.

It is a story about the anxieties, comforts, and hopes of Jungbin, a blind aspiring violinist, as she attempts to overcome her handicap with the support of Mika, who guides her in a variety of ways.
