"Silent House" is the story of three generations of an Iranian family who live in a one hundred-year-old house in Tehran. Through archival family footage woven with contemporary images, the two filmmakers, Farnaz and Mohammadreza, portray their family’s evolution across 40 years, from the 1979 Islamic Revolution until the present time. They follow each family member entangled in the tides of their country's complicated history.

Through photographs, Super 8 footage, and analogue home movies, the film flashbacks to the joyful and most striking moments of the family members’ lives, going back in history and evoking memories of the past to bring back the spirit of the house. Through the images taken today, the past is traced and its imprints interrogated for what remains — in the house and in their lives.
