¡®Good Pitch¡¯ refers to a new type of documentary film pitching program aiming to expand the impact and influence of outstanding documentary story-telling. The signing of the MOU signals an enormous opportunity for Korean documentary filmmakers to build new distribution partners and potential sponsors to expand the influence and audience of their work. The Good Pitch program also expands the impact of documentary with the broader public, revealing issues that shape our society. This opportunity is facilitated by DMZ International Documentary Film Festival acquiring the rights to host Good Pitch Korea exclusively in Korea.

DMZ International Documentary Film Festival will host a pre-event, the ¡®Impact Lab 2020¡¯ for 3 days from Saturday, September 19th to Monday, September 21st during this year¡¯s 12th DMZ International Documentary Film Festival period in advance of the official launching of Good Pitch Korea in 2021. This will provide an opportunity to build capacity and understanding of key themes related to impact campaigns, pitching for diverse partnerships and the role of the ¡®Impact Producer¡¯.

DMZ International Documentary Film Festival has opened call for entries for projects to participate in the Impact Lab. Documentary filmmakers are invited to apply with their projects may be at a variety of production phases from development to completion and release and projects in a range of formats are considered, although the finished film must be (or plan to be) more than 60 minutes in length.

The online application form closes on July 24th and up to six projects will be selected. Selected projects will participate in the three-day workshop and have an opportunity to learn from international mentors about the ¡®Good Pitch¡¯ program and key concepts such as building an ¡®Impact Campaign¡¯, the role of the ¡®Impact Producer¡¯, and learn from Case Studies across the world. Each film team will also have a one-on-one consultation with an international expert consultant.

DMZ Docs and Good Pitch Korea will also offer an ¡®Open Class¡¯, that is open for participation even without a selected project for the workshop. The Open Class is an introduction seminar on key concepts of building audience, finance and distribution through an impact campaign.
