Sun, Teddy and Xyza’s lives are transformed when they discover underground ballroom culture. There are no ballroom scenes in their countries, so they become trailblazers within local communities while gaining recognition from major ballroom houses from the USA.

In Malaysia, Teddy's homophobic father threatens their life, and they drop out of school and leave their hometown. Teddy founds the Kiki House of Neverland to care for other youths rejected by their families. During the pandemic, Teddy is diagnosed as HIV+. In the Philippines, Xyza dreams of being a model but finds it impossible because she is dark skinned. The ballroom is where she can be a dancer and model while celebrating her caramel skin tone. One of Xyza’s first ‘children’ as Mother of the House of Mizrahi Philippine is Ian. He finds confidence in ballroom to express his gay identity and his indigenous tribal roots, and dreams of following Xyza’s footsteps to New York. Born the mixed-race child of a sex worker, Sun’s families are always in flux. He grew up in a rural village in Thailand, then blended and resided with foster families in Norway. Sun’s ballroom families are his refuge. During the pandemic, Sun chooses to serve as a novice Buddhist monk - an experience that connects him deeply to his birth mother. 

The stories are interwoven by balls across Southeast Asia, where the protagonists compete against, and support, each other. At the climax, we witness Teddy’s trip to New York to gain the father figure that they have always dreamed of. Xyza brings Ian to fulfil his dream of walking in a ball in New York. In the meantime, the House of Amazon is dissolved and Sun is again homeless, in ballroom terms. With sadness, Sun premieres his solo art performance, an homage to ballroom and all of his mothers.
