Synopsis

Hye-in will be elected to the National Assembly in 2020 at the age of 30. Yet the joy is brief as she realizes that she, a first-term, female, lawmaker of a small party, has no influence in the National Assembly. Hyein does her best but gets no media attention. To make matters worse, Hye-in is also given the heavy duties of childbirth and childcare. South Korean politics is being sucked into the chaos of the presidential election. In the face of the new power, politicians start to divide and unite, and Hye-in puts her political life on the line.

Review

I met Hye-in in January 2020, just after she created the Basic Income Party. As she was preparing to run for the parliamentary elections in April, I asked her why she ran for an election with no possibility of winning. She answered, ¡°If you do not even run, it is zero. If you run, you can try at least. I will be able to prepare for the next election, even if I lose in this election.¡± I have followed her campaign to see how it is going on. Soon after I saw the small seeds she sowed become real, I became attracted to her political boldness and negotiation skills. She is not afraid to challenge power and get what she wants from them. My documentary will show a young politician challenging the establishment for power. At the same time, it will make many people think about what one vote in a democracy actually means.
